Martha M. Munson has worked as a paralegal in Harrisonburg since 1985 focusing on commercial practice areas such as real estate development, commercial and tax-exempt financings, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, general business, and intellectual property. She has extensive experience working with clients (both for profit and nonprofit) on matters involving multiple parties and sizable real property holdings, including public companies and their related issues.  Ms. Munson took a two-year sabbatical serving the United States Peace Corps in Lesotho, Southern Africa from 2001-2003, and has worked for Lenhart Obenshain since that time.

Experience

  • Facilitated the closing of commercial transactions for both sellers and buyers as well as financings for both lenders and borrowers for business, construction, and development purposes.
  •  Coordinated multi-state real and personal property lien searches and environmental inspections and participated in the review of related documents in connection with several multi-million dollar financings [for a publicly held company]. 
  • Established systems for maintenance of corporate and limited liability company status with the State Corporation Commission, registered trademarks with the Patent and Trademark Office, and corporate real estate holdings throughout the Mid-Atlantic area.  
  • Served as due diligence coordinator for a number of asset and stock purchase sales and acquisitions.
  • Worked with bond counsel in connection with the drafting of documents, coordination of internal and external transaction logistics, and supervision of closing arrangements for tax-exempt financings on behalf of charitable organizations, governmental and quasi-governmental entities, and other eligible corporations.
